Beginners Weaving Workshop

February 20, 2016 from 9 a.m. – Noon

Weaving was an important skill in frontier Arkansas, and most settlers had at least one loom in their home. Today most weaving is done by machines, but many people still practice traditional hand weaving. This workshop will teach basic weaving using a piece of cardboard as your loom. Participants will make a bookmark to take home. Space is limited, and early registration is required. Contact the park to register at 870-892-4708. Admission: $13 per person. Herbal Remedies Workshop

Herbs were very useful to early Arkansas settlers not only for seasoning their food but also in remedies for various illnesses. Davidsonville Historic State Park is offering a hands-on workshop where you will learn more about the medicinal properties of certain herbs and have the opportunity to make a couple herbal remedies to take home. Admission is $10 per person and early registration is required as space is limited. Please call 870-892-4708 to sign up. Holiday Candle Making Workshop

Join the park interpreter at Davidsonville Historic State Park to learn the history of candle making and make your own hand dipped candles. The registration deadline is December 7 and participants must be at least 12 years or older. You may register by calling 870-892-4708. Admission is $15 per person and all supplies will be provided.
